From time to time, we are asked to recommend young people as supernumeraries (extras) for professional productions. We have had young people cast in a number of shows over the years and it has made a huge difference to those who have been involved.
The casting director for An Inspector Calls, coming to the Theatre Royal in Nottingham, approached us two weeks ago to ask us to recommend a boy aged seven or over who was between 4ft and 4’3’’. Rowan Driscoll-Besh was recommended by Carrie Bird from our Monday Junior Drama 2 group as he fitted the brief well and he has been involved in Flying High workshops since he was four.

Rowan will be one of three children in the sold out production.
He gets to open the show by running in from the back of the auditorium, on to the stage and shining a torch across the audience!
By the end of the week, he will have been in eight performances and have a real experience of what it is like to be an actor in a professional show.
We wish him the best of luck and there may be other opportunities for our members in the future.
