Where are they now?

Here are some of our Flying High alumni who have pursued their love of theatre, television and performing - keeping you up to date about what they are doing now.

Jennifer Manderson (1994 – 2007) graduated from Coventry University with a first class degree in Dance, Theatre and Professional Practice. She has worked extensively as a performer, facilitator, choreographer and producer, for companies such as Tom Dale Dance Company and Spilt Milk Dance. Jennifer was also the Co-founder of Next Door Dance. In 2020 Jennifer took a step away from her dance career to retrain as a nurse. 

Nicola Chambers (1994 – 2006) graduated from Middlesex University in Dance Studies and is working as a freelance dance artist in Notts mainly for Dance 4 and County Youth Arts. 

Laura Woodward (2003 - 2007) graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with a degree in Applied Theatre and Education. Laura currently works as the Senior Producer for Farnham Maltings.

Rachel Bird (1994 – 2009) originally trained in Acting at the Oxford School of Drama. She graduated as an actor from Court Theatre Training Company and completed her MA in Musical Theatre at the Guildford School of Acting. Since 2019, Rachel has been working onboard AIDA Cruise Ships as a Lead Soloist in the production shows.

Joanna Chambers (1994 - 2009) graduated from Phil Winston's Performing Arts Academy in Blackpool as a dance performer. She has worked abroad as a dancer in Cyprus and Corfu. 

Shona Manderson (1994 - 2010) graduated from Preparation Performance Academy (PPA - Guildford) as a Musical Theatre performer. She played Jasmine in Aladdin at Southend in 2015. 

Jack Quarton (1998 - 2010) trained as an actor at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), and works as an actor-musician, MD, composer/arranger and lyricist. Jack’s most recent work includes The Blind Beggar in ’Amelie’ (West End), John Hinckley in ’Assassins’ (Watermill Theatre), and ‘Wonderland’ (Nottingham Playhouse).

Christie Rolley (1996 – 2011) graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in History in 2014. She worked as a TV assistant producer, including for the BBC, for a number of years before taking up her current role as a strategist in an advertising agency. Christie still performs in theatre in her local area having recently joined the companys of KMTC’s Ghost, Fame, Avenue Q and Grease (where she reprised her role of Jan 16 years on!).

Sarah Keyworth (1998 - 2011) is an award-winning stand-up comedian who performs live regularly across the UK. She has performed stand-up on The Now Show (BBC Radio 4) and has featured on the BBC, Comedy Central and has done tour support for acts such as Stewart Francis, Dane Baptiste, Kerry Godliman, Jan Ravens and Abandoman. 

Ben Padwick (2000 - 2011) graduated from the University of Winchester with a degree in Psychology. The arts are never far away, though and since 2015 he has worked on the other side of the curtain at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham, as a Front of House Steward and Supervisor.

Evie Parker (2003 - 2011) graduated from the University of Leeds with a degree in Music. For the last 6 years she has worked for various agencies with classical singers, currently an Associate at Camilla Wehmeyer Management based in Cambridge and London. Over the pandemic she also worked as Festival and Artist Administrator for Southwell Music Festival in Nottinghamshire.

Tash Bird (1996 - 2013) graduated as a singer / song writer from The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance and has played numerous gigs and festivals across the UK, most notably at YNot Festival, Splendour and Edinburgh Fringe, as well as touring internationally in the US and New Zealand. Tash released her first EP ‘Normal is Boring’ in 2016 to critical acclaim, with follow up singles ‘Reminded’, ‘Someone (The Stir Fry Song)’ and most recently ‘Only When I’m Drunk’ with over 35k streams.

Aaron Belcher (2009 - 2013) works as an actor for M & M Theatrical Productions and has toured all over Great Britain in Robin Hood & The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. He is now tour manager as well as an actor. 

Anna Hucknall (2001 - 2011) is currently a Choreographer for Take 1 Dance - an internationally renowned street dance group that perform and battle world wide. Winner of various battles and competitions such as Festival2Funky (UK), hip hop kings (NED) and world of dance (LA). Anna has toured with breakin’convention 2018 and teaches regularly across the UK.

Sophie Hatton (2000 - 2013) graduated from East 15 Acting School with a First Class Degree in Physical Theatre. Sophie is a freelance Workshop Facilitator and is Co-Artistic Director and Producer of Ditto, an award-winning family theatre company specialising in Storytelling, Puppetry and Movement.

Lara Sas (2001 - 2014) graduated from the Musical Theatre Academy and is about to embark on a UK and Ireland tour of Friends The Musical, playing the role of Monica Gellar.

Julia Bird (2010-2015) graduated as an Actor from East 15 Acting School and works as an Actor, Model and Voiceover Artist. Julia recently finished performing as Dorothy in Oz the Immersive Experience. She has now started filming for a Sci-Fi/Horror feature film.

Dan Scott (2013 - 2015) graduated from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School where he trained as a playwright on the MA in Drama Writing. His debut play, Verstandnis [Understanding] is currently in development for a touring production in Spring 2022.

Rachel Burbridge (2013 - 2016) recently completed training with All In Actors, London (ran by Stephen Sobal) and The Actors Class Intermediate Course with Mary Doherty. Most recently Rachel performed as ELI in 'Let The Right One In' at the Omnibus Theatre and is currently working on an Immersive theatre production, ‘The Social’, with Not Too Tame Company, which will tour across Derby and Warrington.

Callum Battlemuch (2008 - 2019) is currently training in Acting (Screen & Digital Media) at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and is also continuing to try out stand up comedy at open mic nights across Liverpool.

Harry Marciniak (2010 - 2019) graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a First Class Degree in Performance for Stage and Screen and is now looking to start a creative career. He is set to perform in The Lace Market Theatre's production of Pink Mist in November 2021.
